I had a few dead phones sitting in a drawer — cracked screens, barely holding a charge. Normally those either go to the trash or sit there “just in case.” Instead I hooked them up to something and now they’re quietly working for me.
The idea is simple: there’s a network called Acurast. Phones contribute their computing power for AI tasks. It’s not the old-school mining with crazy electricity bills and noise — it’s actual compute. The phones just sit there, warm up a little, and tokens start coming in.
I first installed it on my daily driver — runs in the background without much hassle. Then I grabbed the old ones and built a small “farm.” Connected them through proper docks so I wouldn’t have to deal with messy cables. Setup takes a couple of minutes: download, register, connect — done.
Right now I’m watching how much it actually pays. Not life-changing money, of course, but it feels good when hardware that was basically trash starts earning its keep.
